About me

Hi! I'm Joy from Fiji. I am excited about this amazing career that I am in because I get to meet new people, something I love, and sharing to them what I know as well as getting to know them. I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, I enjoy travelling and exploring new things. I like playing sports and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking. I am an enthusiastic, enjoyable, easy going, kind and understanding, fun and vibrant, creative and adaptable as well as professional individual.
I have had some teaching experience in the form of tutoring to High School Science students in subjects like Chemistry and Biology as well as did an Administrative support role working on a contract basis as a temporary staff at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Fiji. I also have taught English as a foreign language to a Chinese friend (adult) assisting her with her fluency and confidence in speaking English.
I believe participants should work with me because I've been in their shoes and have learnt a foreign language myself thus I can better relate to them when they will learn English with me. I also believe that with my vast experience with other foreigners have allowed me to be more open minded and flexible when coming across new participants or students.

My education and experience

I am a Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of the South Pacific with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. I completed my education throughout in English mode. I also have TEFL Certificates in which I have specialty Certificates in teaching English to young learners as well as teaching Business English. In addition, I have a HSK 4 Certificate (Chinese Proficiency Level) that I obtained in Shandong University, China.
I have taken an Administrative support role with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat for about 8 months assisting with all related administrative duties as well as Research. I have taught English as a foreign language to a Chinese friend helping with her fluency in speaking English. I also have tutored in Science subjects such as Biology and Chemistry.
I was awarded a Scholarship to pursue my Undergraduate studies at the University of the South Pacific where I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree. I also was awarded another scholarship to further my studies in China in Clinical Medicine but unfortunately got sick and had to return home. However, I did receive my HSK 4 Certificate in China upon completion of my Mandarin language studies at the Shandong University in Shandong, China.
