About me

Growing up in a bilingual family with English and Afrikaans, I naturally gravitated towards English and later discovered my passion for teaching it as a second language. My students often describe me as enthusiastic, goal-driven, and responsible. I embrace challenges and transform them into opportunities. I strongly believe in the reciprocal nature of teaching and learning.
In 2020, I obtained my TEFL Level 5 Certificate from i-to-i TEFL, solidifying my commitment to online teaching. To further enhance my skills, I completed additional relevant courses at Alison College, equipping me with effective tools to deliver productive lessons.
With over three years of online teaching experience, I have successfully worked with diverse students across different levels, age groups, cultures, and platforms. I have overcome various challenges that arise in an online teaching environment, ensuring a smooth and enriching learning journey for my students.

My education and experience

In 2020, I achieved my Level 5 TEFL Certificate. In the subsequent year, I furthered my education by obtaining diplomas in Teaching Skills for Educators, Basic English Grammar, and International Tourism with a focus on English Language. Additionally, I acquired certificates in various areas, including Beginner Level 1 English - Foundations, Vocabulary and Pronunciation, Social English Skills, and ESL Teaching.

During my academic pursuits, I concurrently engaged in freelance teaching and volunteered at Nevy's Language School in Canada. My time at Nevy's allowed me to instruct students of diverse ages, cultures, proficiency levels, and backgrounds. This experience profoundly shaped my understanding of individual student requirements, objectives, and aspirations. I personalized each lesson to cater to the unique needs of every student, ensuring that they achieved optimal outcomes.

Inspired by my journey, I recently embarked on an enriching teaching endeavor in parts of South Africa. There, I had the privilege of imparting basic English language skills to farmers, their workers, and the workers' children. This experience not only broadened my horizons as an educator but also highlighted the practical importance of English in both work and daily life.

Upon returning from this enlightening experience, I made the decision to join a dedicated teaching institution. This step reflects my commitment to personal and professional growth as an educator. My goal is to continue making a positive impact on students' lives by helping them achieve their English language objectives.
