Hello, my name is Duncan Campbell, an ESL teacher in Cape Town. I have been tutoring English, History, and Biology since high school. I have been teaching English online going on for four years now, and I have experience teaching children from the ages of 4 - 17 and adults to the age of forty-five, from all around the globe. I have taught students who had not previously had any exposure to the language and started them with their phonics courses all the way through to being able to speak to a native. I have had students whom I tutored for examinations to get into their desired schools. I have also recently begun teaching business English which has been an interesting learning curve, and have had to adapt to a whole new set of needs. I have been working on improving my skills as a teacher by working alongside others and gaining input, and I'm about to start studying how to teach students with special needs. Outside of work I spend my time reading psychology and philosophy and am looking at finding the right courses for me to follow these passions, which I believe could be greatly beneficial to myself, my career, and my students. As much as I have taught I'm still constantly trying to get improve and find new challenges for myself, and I believe BWANS could provide this for me.

I've been teaching English online and in presence for nearly 5 years now. I have worked as a copyeditor and translator from English to Italian for a long time.
That was a solitary job. I really enjoy working with people, getting to know people from different countries, speaking, and exchanging knowledge, opinions, and interests. My classes are dynamic and focused on the communicative approach. I really want students to become confident and enjoy speaking English! I am a great motivator and support them with different types of material: videos, pictures, music, newspaper and magazine articles, and literature. I am happy when I know that students enjoy my classes and can't wait for their next lesson!

I am an experienced A-Level tutor, recently TEFL qualified so expanding into ESL teaching. I really enjoy working with students one to one or in small groups building up their confidence. Using a wide range of foundational resources, I tailor my lessons to the personal needs and wants of my students. I will carry out student level tests to ensure we are working at the right level. Most of my lesson plans involve the PPP or ESA structures but I also adapt to involve task-based learning, communicative language teaching, and community language learning – all to maximise student talking time, so you get the practice you need.
